The Panzertragerwagen (tank carrier wagon) was a challenge to model accurately given the low height of the prototype. Nevertheless using special Marklin chassis components I managed to produce a prototypical model. This wagon is cast in a mixture of plastic and iron, in order to achieve the necessary weight, as well as provide structural strength to the fine casting. Note that there is a small semi-circular cut-out on one of the ramps which gives the coupler sufficient room to move sideways when the model is traversing a curve.
These wagons carried a Pz38(t) light tank which provided the train with a degree of offensive capability. My model of the tank is highly accurate and features a rotating turret. The gun barrel is made of hardened steel.
